- UNRWA accused Israel of trying to expel Palestinians from Gaza under the guise of humanitarian aid
The plan to create a so-called humanitarian city in the southern Gaza Strip, proposed by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, is aimed at expelling Palestinians from their lands. This was announced on July 15 by the representative of the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna.
According to him, the Israeli side has been preparing the ground for such a plan for a long time by creating distribution points for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip.
"Now they openly declare their intention to forcibly relocate the Gazan population to collective detention camps in Rafah as a prelude to their expulsion from Palestinian lands," the WAFA news agency quoted him as saying.
Abu Hasna warned that this development demonstrates Israel's continued commitment to the forced displacement of the population of the Gaza Strip. He noted that the collapse of the healthcare system, lack of assistance and fuel shortage are being used for this.
In addition, he warned of the inability of the humanitarian zone to accommodate 2 million Gazans in an area of only 60 square kilometers of devastated land. Abu Hasna called this territory uninhabitable and devoid of any semblance of life or future. He also called on the international community to intervene and stop the "dangerous and deliberate attempt" to displace the Palestinians.
Earlier in the day, Al Jazeera reported the deaths of 78 Palestinians as a result of strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the territory of the Gaza Strip in a day. It was clarified that among the dead were also people who were queuing for humanitarian aid.
