Hutsul's defense challenged the extension of her arrest in the Moldovan Court of Appeal.

Lawyers for the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, challenged the decision to extend the arrest for 30 days in the republic's Court of Appeal. This was announced by her defender Natalia Bayram.

"We have already appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal to challenge the arrest," TASS quoted her as saying.

According to the lawyer, the court should set a date for the appeal.

On July 10, the Chisinau court extended the term of Hutsul's house arrest for 30 days. After the court session, the head of Gagauzia stated that the extension of house arrest was predictable and that the police and justice in Moldova had lost their original function, acting as a political instrument.
