China opposes any official contacts between Taiwan and the United States, and Washington should be aware of the sensitivity of the Taiwan issue for Beijing. This was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian at a briefing on July 15.

"As for the issue of possible transit through the United States, China strongly opposes any form of official contacts between the United States and Taiwan," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The diplomat also noted that China opposes the support that the United States provides to Taiwan. Lin Jian stressed that Washington should be aware of the high degree of sensitivity of the Taiwan issue and respect the "one China" principle.

On July 3, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that China urges the United States to stop promoting any bills that violate the territorial integrity of China and are aimed at supporting Taiwan. According to her, China demands that the United States stop interfering in the country's internal affairs.
