Residents of Komsomolsk-on-Amur gave about 4 million rubles to fraudsters

Over the past week, 22 people were injured as a result of fraud in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Khabarovsk Territory). The total damage amounted to about 4 million rubles.

Eight local residents aged 22 to 68 suffered the most damage. When communicating with them, the scammers presented themselves as employees of the pension fund, financial institutions, intercom service and transport companies. The scammers gained access to personal information and persuaded the victims to dictate codes from SMS messages. One of the victims sold the car to avoid alleged criminal liability, IA AmurMedia writes. The total damage amounted to 2.35 million rubles.

Four people were injured responding to online ads. Their damage amounted to more than 860 thousand rubles.

A criminal case has been opened on each fact.

In Balashikha, Moscow region, a 58-year-old woman gave 47 million rubles to fraudsters. On July 7, the victim received a call from an alleged employee of the Russian Post, and after that she received an SMS notification about the hacking of her account on Gosuslugi. Then she received a call from an unknown person who introduced himself as "an employee of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation." On the first day, the scammers forced the woman to withdraw more than 11.8 million rubles from her accounts and hand them over to a courier at a grocery store. Later, the victim met with a representative of the scammers three more times.
