Fraudsters stole more than 47 million rubles from a resident of Balashikha
Fraudsters lured more than 47 million rubles from a 58-year-old resident of Balashikha near Moscow using a multi-pass scheme. This was announced on July 15 by a source of Izvestia.
"The criminals operated for several days using a multi-way scheme. The scammers demanded to transfer money to "secure accounts", and also intimidated the victim by allegedly financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.)," the source said.
According to the source, on July 7, the woman received a call from an alleged employee of the Russian Post, and after that she received an SMS notification about the hacking of her account on Gosuslugi. Then she received a call from an unknown person who introduced himself as "an employee of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation."
On the first day, the scammers forced the woman to withdraw more than 11.8 million rubles from her accounts and hand them over to a courier at a grocery store late in the evening. Later, the victim met with a representative of the scammers three more times.
The next day, the woman handed over more than 20 million rubles to the courier, then almost 2.5 million more, and on the fourth day — about 13 million. The total amount of damage amounted to almost 47.7 million rubles.
The identities of the members of the criminal group and the channels of laundering the stolen funds are being established.
On July 3, it became known that a Moscow pensioner believed fraudsters who introduced themselves as the mayor of the capital and an FSB general, and lost more than 7 million rubles. It is noted that on June 25, an unknown person called the 77-year-old resident of Moscow, who identified himself as an employee of the mayor's office. He switched the pensioner to a video call, warning that the mayor wanted to talk to him.
