Iran's nuclear program is exclusively peaceful. Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia, told Izvestia on July 15.

"Iran, being a Member of the United Nations (UN) and an abiding party to the NPT (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Weapons. — Ed.), was subjected to violence by an illegal regime, and the reaction of the United Nations and the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency. It was completely politicized and unexpected," the diplomat said, adding that Iran's nuclear program is exclusively peaceful.

According to him, the United States and a number of other states provide political and operational support for actions against Iran. At the same time, the ambassador stressed, organizations such as the IAEA are "involved in a dirty game with fire" and actually provide "pretexts for aggression."

On July 9, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian informed the President of the European Council (EU), Antonio Costa, during a telephone conversation about the commitment to the NPT. As Costa noted, he managed to persuade the Iranian leader to continue cooperation with the IAEA.
