Russia's relations with international sports federations are warming to varying degrees, and negotiations are continuing with them. This was announced on July 15 by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

"Relations with international sports federations are warming to varying degrees, but negotiations need to be conducted with everyone," he said at a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Sports.

According to him, the first priority is the return of Russian athletes to the global sports arena. The key expected decision is the restoration of the ROC status, which will be reviewed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in September.

"Today, 67 international federations allow Russian athletes to participate in their competitions, and almost four thousand Russian athletes in 28 Olympic sports have been allowed to participate in international tournaments," Degtyarev added.

He also noted that in 2025, Russian athletes will participate in 29 world championships and other major competitions. According to him, a total of 157 people have been activated for negotiations with international sports federations and the IOC.

On June 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Degtyarev, said that international sports organizations are now guided by the political situation, and not by the principles of upholding Olympism. He also called the most important task to support the National Olympic Committee, those who want to build relations with Russia on international platforms. Putin believes that there are most of them.
