The day of a large family will be celebrated on Sakhalin

A new holiday will appear in the calendar of the Sakhalin region on September 30, the region will celebrate the Day of a large family.

The draft law was reviewed by deputies of the Sakhalin Regional Duma. According to the document, the chosen date coincides with the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sofia, who symbolize family well-being. SakhalinMedia news agency writes about this.

According to the chairman of the Committee on Social Policy, deputy Alexander Bolotnikov, almost 8.5 thousand large families live in the Sakhalin region, in which more than 28 thousand children are raised. 2025 has been declared the Year of Happy Motherhood in the region.

The Duma notes that the appearance of the holiday will enhance the status and prestige of a large family.
