The history of the State Fire Supervision Day

Control over compliance with fire safety measures was entrusted to the State Fire Supervision Authorities (GPN) about 100 years ago. It was on this day in 1927 that the Regulation "On State Fire Supervision Authorities in the RSFSR" was adopted, which marked the beginning of the development of the country's fire service.

At the beginning, the service was part of the NKVD, then it became an independent structural unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and since 2001, the State Fire Supervision has been part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

Developing and improving, the structure took over supervision of all work on fire prevention and compliance with fire safety rules, including the development of regulatory documents, certification of fire-fighting products and educational events among Russians.

To mark the significant role of Gosudarstvennadzor inspectors in preventing fires and saving human lives, a professional holiday was established in 2007 by presidential decree. It is celebrated annually by firefighters, fire safety inspectors and other specialists from this field.

On this day, solemn events dedicated to the work of fire supervision are held, the best employees are awarded, and the results of the work for the year are summed up. Events aimed at raising awareness about fire safety and fire prevention are organized for the public and employees of enterprises.

State Fire Supervision Day – 2025: interesting facts

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, about 220 thousand people work in the State Fire Service today. About 2 million visits are carried out annually and tens of thousands of preventive measures are carried out. Thus, by the end of 2024, the supervisory authorities of the capital's Headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted more than 60 thousand such events. About the same amount takes place in other major cities.

During the raid, Gosudarstvennadzor employees check the availability of fire-fighting equipment, the serviceability of warning and fire extinguishing systems, the correctness of filling out documents, access roads and evacuation exits for clutter.

The frequency of scheduled inspections depends on the assigned risk category. Depending on this, monitoring is carried out annually or up to once every six years. In case of a complaint from citizens or detected violations, inspectors have the right to conduct an unscheduled inspection.

A fine is provided for non-compliance with fire safety regulations. For citizens, it ranges from 5,000 to 50,000 rubles, for entrepreneurs — from 40,000 to 110,000 rubles, for officials — from 20,000 to 100,000 rubles, and for organizations — from 300,000 to 2 million rubles.
