- The Interior Ministry reported on a new fraudulent scheme to steal accounts of "Gosuslug"
Telephone fraudsters have developed a new scheme to steal accounts from applicants from the Gosuslugi portal. This was announced on July 15 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
It clarifies that the attackers call university applicants, promising "high chances" of budget tuition, after which they ask them to follow a malicious link, clicking on which the victim gets to a duplicate of the Gosuslugi website.
"Scammers promise applicants "high chances" to enroll in the budget, and then ask them to follow the phishing link that leads to a duplicate of the Gosuslugi website," RIA Novosti quoted the Interior Ministry as saying.
The department noted that if an applicant refuses the conditions, the attackers begin to tell the person that he will not go anywhere at all.
On July 14, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that heating up a mobile device and slowing down its operation may be signs of virus infection. They noted that the signs may also include the appearance of strange permissions in familiar programs and the installation of unknown applications.
