Two shrines were brought to Kronstadt to celebrate Navy Day.
Two shrines of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) — the Main Icon of the Navy of St. Andrew the First-Called and the relics of the Holy Righteous Warrior Theodore Ushakov were delivered to the Stavropol St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral in Kronstadt for the celebration of Navy Day. This was announced on July 15 by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the icon of St. Andrew the First-Called was first brought to Kronstadt from the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and the relics of the Holy Righteous Warrior Theodore Ushakov, accompanied by Archimandrite Innocent, the vicar of the Nativity of the Mother of God Sanaksar Monastery, according to tradition, were delivered from the Sanaksar Monastery of the Republic of Mordovia.
An-26 aircraft of the Northern Fleet Aviation Corps and IL-76 military transport aircraft (BTA) took part in the transportation of the shrines.
In addition, the ministry added that the meeting of the shrines was held under the leadership of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Rear Admiral Vladislav Pavlov. The event was attended by representatives of the Main Command of the Navy, the marine platoon of the Honor Guard Company, military personnel of the Joint Training Center of the Navy and the orchestra of the Naval Military Training Center "VMA".
Archimandrite Alexy, rector of the Stavropol St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral, conducted a prayer service, after which the personnel of the Russian Armed Forces, who were in the Naval Cathedral, were able to venerate the relics of the holy Admiral.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 9 that it was important to develop the fleet using modern technologies. According to him, the Navy's development strategy is designed for the long term until 2050 to take into account modern technologies and the changing realities of combat operations.
