Zelensky announced the appointment of Shmygal as Minister of Defense of Ukraine
The current Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal, will take up the post of Minister of Defense after his resignation. This was announced on July 14 by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
"Denis Shmygal's tremendous experience will definitely be useful to the positions of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine — it is in this area that the country has maximum resources, maximum tasks and a lot of responsibility," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.
He also expressed the hope that the People's Deputies of Ukraine would support the reshuffle in the government.
At the same time, Zelensky did not make any comments about the future career of the current Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.
On the same day, Zelensky proposed to the country's first Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko to head the Ukrainian government. It is noted that during the meeting, the politicians discussed specific measures that can "strengthen the economic potential of Ukraine.
