A teenager drowned while swimming in the Bystrica Sosna River in the Lipetsk region.

In the Yelets district of the Lipetsk region, a 15-year-old boy drowned while swimming in the river. An inspection has been organized, the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports in its Telegram channel.

The tragedy occurred the night before, on July 14, in the village of Cherkassy. According to the investigation, a 15-year-old boy was swimming in the Bystrica Pine River. After swimming away from the shore, he dived into the water and did not come to the surface.

Eyewitnesses turned to rescuers for help. They found the teenager's body.

"According to preliminary data, the cause of the guy's death was drowning in water. A set of verification measures is being carried out to clarify all the circumstances, eyewitnesses are being interviewed, and a forensic examination has been ordered," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

Based on the results of the inspection, a decision will be made to institute a criminal case.

According to GOROD48, seven people have died in the region's reservoirs since the beginning of summer.
