Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said on July 14 that he had met with the US President's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, and discussed with him the issue of purchasing weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) together with European countries.

"We discussed the path to peace and what we can practically do together to bring it closer. This is the strengthening of air defense for Ukraine, joint production, and purchases of defense weapons together with Europe," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian leader added that the issue of anti-Russian sanctions was also discussed at the meeting. In addition, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the American leadership for "important signals of support."

On July 11, Politico reported that US President Donald Trump is considering sending Ukraine a new military aid package worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The publication noted that if the decision is made, it will be the first military aid to Kiev from the Trump administration.

Later, on July 14, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kellogg's visit to Kiev should help strengthen Washington's mediation in the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian settlement.
