Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about the demographic situation on the territory of the state, recalled the lines about ten girls and nine guys from the Soviet song "There are girls". He announced this on July 14 at a meeting on social issues.

"We discuss demographic issues with you regularly. We remember well, probably, a famous song from Soviet times: when the girls came to the dance and some stood aside, because according to statistics, there are nine guys for ten girls," he said.
