The American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) is unable to independently withstand the attacks of Russian drones (UAVs). This was announced on July 14 by Carlo Masala, a defense expert and professor of international politics at the Bundeswehr University in Munich.

"Patriot alone is not enough to deal with the large number of drones deployed by Russia," the Tagesspiegel newspaper quoted him as saying.

According to Masala, Patriot supplies should be accompanied by investments in Ukrainian anti-drone assets.

The expert clarified that along with air defense systems, Spike missiles, drones capable of intercepting Russian drones, and various ammunition for other air defense systems (air defense) should be sent to Ukraine.

On July 8, The Guardian newspaper reported that the United States had 25% of its Patriot missile defense stocks left, after the accumulated ammunition in the Middle East had been completely used up in recent months. It clarifies that this could jeopardize potential US military operations.
