US intelligence is gradually declining due to the need to demonstrate loyalty to American President Donald Trump. Andreas Kluth, a columnist for the Bloomberg news agency, writes about this in an article by the author on July 14.

"Donald Trump is increasingly using the vaunted American intelligence services <...> for support, not for coverage. And this represents a huge, albeit slow—moving and often invisible, threat to national security," the article says.

The author cites the opinion of former CIA officer Brian O'Neill, who stated that the current failures of American intelligence will not be accidental. They "become fabricated" and will not come as a surprise.

"Various American agencies, 18 of which are headed by [Director of National Intelligence Tulsi] Gabbard, are under pressure to obey the president's "instincts and narrative," demonstrate loyalty and reinforce his boasts and statements. Agents who provide ratings that the president doesn't like quickly come under attack. They can be sent on unpaid leave, transferred or fired," the author of the article writes, citing O'Neill's words.

On May 1, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) posted a Chinese-language video on its social networks calling on Chinese officials to spy for Washington. Representatives of the agency also attached a link through which Chinese officials can contact the CIA.
