"One of the main reasons for the increase in accidents among underage drivers is the lack of proper adult supervision. Parents often purchase equipment for their children themselves, such as mopeds or so-called pit bikes, which are prohibited from driving on public roads. In addition, the legal age for driving a particular vehicle is often ignored. Parents need to strengthen control over teenagers' leisure time, as well as the availability of vehicles for them. It is necessary to constantly conduct explanatory conversations with children and adolescents about traffic regulations and the inadmissibility of driving motor vehicles without a driver's license and protective equipment," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, Head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier today it became known that on July 15, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate will hold a citywide preventive event "Pedestrian" in Moscow. Employees of the highway patrol service will monitor compliance with traffic regulations by both pedestrians and drivers.
