A killer who shot a criminal boss in 2018 was detained in Kuzbass.

Investigators have detained in Kuzbass the perpetrator of a contract killing of a local criminal boss committed in 2018. This was reported on July 14 in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"As a result of the joint work of employees of the regional Investigative Committee of Russia and the Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass, the perpetrator of the murder was identified at his place of residence, taken to the city of Kemerovo, where he was detained," the report says.

According to the investigation, the murder was committed on the night of July 27, 2018 in a cafe on Metallurg Avenue in Novokuznetsk. The body of the criminal boss was found by law enforcement agencies.

"A criminal case has been opened on this fact. Despite the investigative actions carried out, it was not possible to identify the person involved in the commission of the crime at that time," said Kristina Ivanova, Senior Assistant to the head of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kemerovo Region.

After the resumption of investigative measures, law enforcement agencies re-examined the details of the case, identified and interrogated witnesses. The evidence was also re-sent to the experts for analysis. Thanks to modern genomic examination capabilities, it was possible to establish the killer's DNA profile. He turned out to be a resident of the Krasnodar Territory, he was detained and interrogated.

In addition, the killer spoke about others involved in the crime. It is specified that in 2018, the customer hired his friend for 1.5 million rubles to commit the murder. He also gave him an advance and a gun. A friend of the customer hired a hitman who agreed to kill a local crime boss for 700 thousand rubles.

All participants in the crime are charged under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder"). The defendants in the criminal case were taken into custody.
