Sale of illegal tobacco products worth 2.7 million rubles was stopped in Ryazan
The police found a batch of unmarked cigarettes worth 2.7 million rubles in the garage of a resident of Ryazan. This was reported on July 14 in the Telegram channel "MIA Media".
"During the implementation of operational materials, police officers stopped the sale of illegal tobacco products. Earlier, the police received information that a 57-year—old resident of Ryazan had a batch of exciseless cigarettes at his disposal," the report says.
It is specified that the warehouse with unmarked cigarettes was located in the suspect's garage, located on the territory of a private household in the Oktyabrsky district. As a result of operational measures, over 15,000 units of illegal goods were found.
Individual entrepreneurs bought cigarettes from the attacker. They, in turn, sold illegal goods in convenience stores and chambers of commerce. A criminal case was opened against a resident of Ryazan in accordance with Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was given a preventive measure in the form of an obligation to appear.
Earlier, on June 27, according to the recommendations contained in a study by the Expert Council on Economic Whitewashing under the State Duma and the Public Consumer Initiative with the participation of the Anti-Counterfeit Association, it was reported about the forced liquidation of businesses illegally selling tobacco and nicotine-containing products. They want to introduce such a proposal if entrepreneurs refuse to register in the labeling system.
