Zakharova ironically assessed the news about the cuts in the State Department
On July 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that the actions of the US authorities to reduce staff at the State Department were inconsistent with their statements on human rights.
In her Telegram channel, she drew attention to information about the reduction of 1.3 thousand people in the State Department as part of the reform of government spending, while dismissed employees claim human rights violations.
"It is ridiculous that all these years it has been American diplomats who have proved to the world that human rights are canonically respected only in the United States, and everyone else should look up to them," she said.
On July 11, Reuters learned about the reduction of more than 1.3 thousand employees of the State Department as part of the Trump plan. According to the Associated Press (AP), all dismissed State Department employees will be placed on administrative leave for 120 days, after which they will officially lose their jobs. It was clarified that the cuts were needed in order to remove non-core functions and redundant offices.
