Trump's adviser announced the US revenue of $3 trillion from duties in 10 years
The United States will receive $3 trillion over the next 10 years from revenue from duties. This was announced on July 13 by Kevin Hassett, head of the National Economic Council at the White House.
"The Congressional Budget Office has stated that revenue from duties over the next 10 years will amount to $3 trillion. This will help reduce the budget deficit and ensure the stability of our social security programs," Hassett said on ABC television.
He stressed that the duties will become "real" if US President Donald Trump does not achieve a trade deal that he "considers good enough."
"Negotiations are continuing, and we'll see how it ends," Hassett said.
On July 12, Trump announced the imposition of duties of 30% on EU goods from August 1. Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto blamed the introduction of tariffs on the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. In turn, von der Leyen and the head of the European Parliament's International Trade committee, Bernd Lange, threatened the United States with countermeasures if duties were imposed against the EU.
