The United States declared Iran's openness to an agreement on its nuclear program
The administration of US President Donald Trump believes that Iran is open to a diplomatic agreement on its nuclear program even after the US and Israeli strikes. This was reported on July 13 by the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing sources.
"Representatives of the Trump administration believe that Iran is open to a diplomatic agreement on its nuclear program even after the US and Israeli strikes nullified the ongoing negotiations," the article says.
At the same time, according to the newspaper, tensions remain due to fears that the negotiations may only precede a new attack by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Iran.
The ISNA news agency reported on July 12 that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi declared Tehran's readiness to return to the negotiating table on a nuclear deal with the United States. The minister recalled that in 2015, Iran signed a comprehensive nuclear agreement with six countries, including the United States, which Washington unilaterally terminated three years later. He also said that the US strikes on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities had undermined the progress made in the negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff said on July 7 that talks between the United States and Iran could take place next week. Trump noted that the Iranian authorities offered the United States to sit down at the negotiating table after the American bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities.
