30 folklore groups performed at the Village — the Soul of Russia festival

The Ust-Kubinsky Municipal District of the Vologda Region hosts the Village — the Soul of Russia festival. The opening ceremony took place on July 12. 30 folk groups will perform at the festival.

"Today it has brought together 30 folklore groups and craftsmen from different regions of the country — from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Chelyabinsk, Omsk and Chuvashia," wrote the governor of the region, Georgy Filimonov, in his Telegram channel.

The head of the Vologda Region noted that the region supports the preservation of folk crafts, song culture, and Russian martial arts. According to Filimonov, the festival is intended to remind of the importance of the village in Russian culture and traditions.

"In Vologda region, we do not just preserve the past — we love, honor and respect the precepts of our ancestors," he added.

On July 12, the festival of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) started in Moscow. The theme of this year's festival is "The Wonders of Russia." Lectures, performances by creative teams and master classes were prepared for the guests.
