Russia will protect the interests of the state in the Baltic Sea and will stop the "piracy" of Western countries against Russian oil tankers. This was announced on July 13 by Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin.

According to him, the passage of ships through the Baltic (Danish) Straits without any obstacles is guaranteed by the norms of international law and Denmark's legal obligations, therefore, based on this document, the Russian side plans to protect its interests.

"Any initiatives aimed at harming Russia's interests, including economic ones, have been and will be met with resolute resistance. Attempts at piracy on the high seas against tankers with Russian oil will be suppressed," the head of the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.

On June 25, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that NATO had turned the Baltic Sea into a zone of confrontation. As noted by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, the aggravation of the military situation is accompanied by increased physical isolation. According to him, similar plans are being hatched for the Black Sea.
