Putin called the fisheries complex one of the key sectors of the Russian economy.
The fisheries sector is one of the key sectors of the domestic economy, and the food security of the Russian Federation depends on the results of its work. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 13.
The Head of State, congratulating the Russians on Fisherman's Day, noted that they face important tasks — ensuring the modernization of the coastal and industrial infrastructure and the renewal of the fishing fleet.
"The fisheries sector is rightfully considered one of the key, basic sectors of the domestic economy. Ensuring the country's food security, solving pressing social problems, and the quality of people's lives largely depend on the results of his work," reads the congratulatory message posted on the Kremlin's website.
In addition, the Russian leader stressed that it is necessary to pay great attention to job creation, personnel training, and the development of cities and towns in fishing regions.
On April 8, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev announced that exports of Russian fish products in 2024 amounted to 1.9 million tons. According to him, the industry demonstrated resilience last year, ensuring stable production and setting a number of records, as well as increasing export potential.
