- The media reported on the unfulfilled "American dream" for Ukrainians moving to Europe
Refugees from Ukraine who came to the United States are returning to Europe due to the unstable position of the country's president Donald Trump towards migrants. This was reported by the newspaper Le Monde on July 12.
"Amid the uncertainty caused by the new American migration policy, Ukrainians no longer have confidence in their future. Some decide to return to Europe," the publication says.
The newspaper cited the stories of refugees who migrated to the United States in 2022 during the Uniting for Ukraine program, which was used by more than 240,000 people. The publication clarified that after the start of Trump's second presidential term and his new migration policy, the migration method used by Ukrainians was closed.
"One day we were legal, the next day we are illegal <...> While waiting, you are not allowed to work. People are facing a dilemma: to stay illegally or to leave," Le Monde noted.
As the publication added, the "American dream" runs counter to the living conditions of Ukrainians who have moved to the United States.
Earlier, on July 5, it was reported that the Netherlands intends to increase the payment for municipal housing for Ukrainians. According to her, the increase in the fee for accommodation will cover government expenses for water, gas and electricity.
