- The media learned about Trump's possible allocation of financial assistance to Ukraine
US President Donald Trump may provide financial assistance to Ukraine for the first time. This was reported on July 12 by CBS News, citing diplomatic sources.
"Trump is considering allocating new funding to Ukraine for the first time since he took office in January," the publication says.
It is specified that new financing can be provided to Kiev in order to "send a signal" to Russia.
It is currently unknown where exactly the funds will be taken from. It is noted that part of the $5 billion of frozen Russian assets may be used for these needs. Nevertheless, neither Trump nor the 46th President of the United States Joe Biden have ever resorted to such a decision.
"Since the beginning of 2022, the United States has sent tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine. Earlier, Trump criticized these costs and called on Ukraine and Russia to reach a peace agreement," the authors note.
On July 8, Trump announced the transfer of some defensive weapons to Ukraine. He stressed that he had independently approved the supply of weapons to Kiev. On the same day, Axios reported that Trump promised Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to send 10 interceptor missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM).
Later, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) called the delivery of 10 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems by the United States a stupid joke.
