ALBA countries condemn US sanctions against Cuba's top officials
The countries of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of America (ALBA) have condemned the new US sanctions against Cuba's top officials. The alliance announced this on its official website on July 12.
"The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) categorically and unconditionally condemns the infamous sanctions imposed on July 11, 2025 by the U.S. Department of State against President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, as well as against the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, and Interior Minister Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas.", — said ALBA.
The United States authorities, according to the alliance, are showing fear of Cuban government officials and are trying to exert pressure and resistance to the development of the state as a sovereign one.
"These are illegal and immoral sanctions <...> they do not reflect a manifestation of power, but an image of deep fear.<... Under unfounded pretexts, without legitimate grounds and international authority, Washington insists on using pressure mechanisms that only reveal its historical defeat," ALBA stressed.
Earlier, on July 11, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the imposition of sanctions against Cuba's top officials for their role in the alleged mistreatment of the country's citizens. He noted that the US State Department will prevent the financing of repression of Cuban residents with American dollars.
