- The media learned about the inclusion of the castles of Bavaria in the UNESCO World Heritage List
The royal castles of Neuschwanstein, Herrenchimsee and Linderhof in Bavaria have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as sites of outstanding cultural value. The Reuters news agency writes about this on July 12.
"The decision taken by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee at its 47th session in Paris recognizes the architectural and cultural significance of the palaces of King Ludwig II of the 19th century," the article says.
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder called the event a "worldwide award," while mentioning Neuschwanstein Castle as "the main attraction of Bavaria."
"In our fairy—tale castles, a fairy tale becomes a reality," he added.
It is noted that today Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Germany, attracting about 1.4 million visitors annually. In addition, it was he who served as the prototype for the Disneyland logo.
On the same day, the Shulgan-Tash cave in Bashkiria was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The total length of the investigated passages in it is 3 km. It is noted that the cave became famous thanks to the drawings of primitive man.
