Vadim Medvedev, an outstanding statesman and party leader, economist and scientist, has left a significant mark on the history of not only Russia, but also other countries. Oleg Koleryaev, ex-assistant to the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev for economics, told Izvestia about this on July 12.

"According to what he managed to do, this is such a lump that has left its mark on the history of our country, and, in general, not only our country," he said.

Koleryaev stressed that most people remember Medvedev as a politician who was secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU and a member of the Politburo. According to him, Medvedev was an important member of Gorbachev's team.

The politician noted that the former secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU was distinguished by his balance and was primarily an economist.

"Vadim Andreevich was a man of a broad soul, so it was always a pleasure to communicate with him. He was calm and confident. From a personal human point of view, he was a very worthy man and respected by everyone," concluded Necklaces.

Medvedev died on July 11 at the age of 96. The cause of death of the scientist is not specified. Vadim Andreevich Medvedev played an important role in the ideological renewal of the country during the years of perestroika. Subsequently, he continued his scientific and public activities at the Gorbachev Foundation and the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He taught at leading universities in Leningrad (then St. Petersburg) and Moscow.
