Sailboat "Nadezhda" arrived in Kamchatka on the Day of the Fisherman
On the Day of the Fisherman, the sailing ship Nadezhda arrived at the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on board of which guided tours and master classes were held. On July 12, Izvestia showed footage from the holiday.
"The ship is located and based in the port of Vladivostok. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is incredibly lucky that on the Day of the Fisherman, the ship arranges an "open board," said Olga Rebkovets, rector of Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University.
An educational festival was prepared for the guests of the sailboat. The townspeople could learn how to tie sea knots, take part in a quiz and get acquainted with the design of a sailboat.
"We listened to two very interesting lectures. About the first Kamchatka expedition and about the outstanding sailors of the city. We are proud of our country, that we have such a rich history," said a tourist from Perm.
Guided tours for the townspeople are conducted by cadets who practice on board the Nadezhda.
The main alumni celebration "Scarlet Sails" was held in St. Petersburg on June 29. It traditionally began with a concert on the Palace Square. The event culminated with the appearance of the brig Rossiya in the Neva River.
