The Russian Embassy in Paris has sent to Moscow a letter from Count Peter Sheremetev to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in which he announced his intention to move to Russia. This was reported on July 12 in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

"He [Pyotr Sheremetev] expressed his firm intention to return to the homeland of his ancestors — to Russia. A few days ago, the embassy received his letter addressed to the President of the Russian Federation, which we forwarded to Moscow through the appropriate channels," the message says.

The embassy noted that Sheremetev had made a significant contribution to strengthening cultural cooperation between Russia and France. Since 1975, he has been the honorary Vice-president of the Franco-Russian Friendship Society.

On April 21, at the age of 82, the last representative of the noble family, Helene de Ludinghausen-Stroganova (Elena Stroganova), passed away. Stroganova was born on August 20, 1942. For a long period of her life, she worked as a director at the Yves Saint Laurent Fashion House. In addition, she created an International foundation to restore the Stroganov Palace and help museums in Russia.
