NHK talks about the resumption of train service between Pyongyang and Beijing
North Korea and China have agreed to resume passenger rail traffic between the capitals after a five-year pause. This was reported on July 12 by NHK TV channel, citing sources.
"Work was suspended in January 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus," the publication says.
According to the TV channel, final negotiations are currently underway, and it is expected that traffic may resume as early as August.
On June 9, the press service of the Russian Railways (RZD) announced the restoration of direct Pyongyang—Moscow and Pyongyang—Khabarovsk railway links. At that time, Russian Railways stressed that train services from Russia to the DPRK were suspended due to COVID-19 in February 2020.
