The first scientist who tested the Sputnik V vaccine died in an accident near Priozersk in the Leningrad region. This was announced on July 12 by a source of Izvestia.
On July 11, a head–on collision between a passenger car and a truck occurred on the Sapernoye–Melnikovo-Kuznechnoye highway. According to preliminary data, the 32-year-old driver of a heavy truck with a semi-trailer lost control due to a burst tire and drove into oncoming traffic.
Konstantin Zakharov, 45, the founder of the company that tested the Sputnik V vaccine before its release, was driving the car. He died in that accident. A criminal case has been opened.
As a result of an accident on the Artyom–Nakhodka highway on the same day, one person was killed and five others were injured. It was clarified that the 74-year-old driver of the Honda CR-V allowed the exit into the lane intended for oncoming traffic, and his car collided with a Toyota Vanguard.
