In Moscow, a 23-year-old man was charged for driving an electric car into five pedestrians on Berezhkovskaya Embankment and fleeing the scene. This was announced on July 12 by the press service of the prosecutor's office in the city.

"The 23-year-old driver of the car was charged under clauses "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car in a state of intoxication, which negligently caused serious harm to human health if it involves leaving the place of its commission") Lyudmila Nefedova , head of the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office, said.

According to her, the defendant faces up to seven years in prison. In the near future, the court will decide on the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The driver of the car ran over people on July 11 at 21:40 at a pedestrian crossing on Berezhkovskaya embankment, after which he fled the scene. As a result, five people were injured, two of them children. The young man refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication. On the same day, the 23-year-old driver was detained.
