Slovenia's withdrawal from NATO may affect the destruction of the militaristic dogma of the European Union (EU). This was reported by the Croatian edition of Advance.

As the author of the article notes, the discussion about Slovenia's membership in NATO, caused by increases in the defense budget, goes beyond the internal political conflict. The publication drew attention to the fact that the opinion about Slovenia's "insecurity" after a possible withdrawal from NATO is imposed. As Advance points out, the history of major European wars shows the opposite. According to the author of the material, it was precisely those states that did not join the unions that were safe.

The publication also noted that the alliance's so-called security umbrella is no longer in effect, as US President Donald Trump has demanded 5% of GDP for military needs. And this, according to Advance, accounts for half of the budget allocated to healthcare and education in the country.

"Withdrawal from NATO does not mean the disarmament of the army: Slovenia can maintain a geographically oriented defense potential, cooperate at the regional level and remain part of the EU's security mechanisms without submitting to the Pentagon," the publication emphasized.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on July 11 that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had decided to engage in the final militarization of Germany, because he believes that diplomatic methods to resolve the Ukrainian conflict have been exhausted. The head of the department also called Merz's statement that Russia allegedly poses a threat to European countries complete nonsense.
