US President Donald Trump considers Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to be the main obstacle to peace, despite the deterioration of the American leader's interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on July 11 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing sources.

"Ukraine's Western allies still assume that Trump is predisposed to view Putin as his main negotiating partner in any settlement, and Zelensky as the main obstacle to a workable peace agreement," the publication says.

As noted in the publication, despite the supply of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, Trump does not intend to change the overall dynamics of the conflict and is still inclined to seek a truce.

Earlier, on July 8, Trump announced the transfer of some defensive weapons to Ukraine. He stressed that he had independently approved the supply of weapons to Kiev. On the same day, Axios reported that Trump promised Zelensky to send 10 interceptor missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). Later, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) called the delivery of 10 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems by the United States a stupid joke.
