Today, people use headphones everywhere, but prolonged use of them can lead to hearing problems. About this on July 12, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Marina Paukova, a surdologist and otolaryngologist at the GUTA CLINIC, Candidate of Medical Sciences.

"Constant wearing of headphones increases the temperature and humidity in the ear canal, which contributes to the accumulation of earwax and the development of inflammation," the doctor said.

According to Paukova, in-ear headphones are a great danger, which increase the acoustic pressure on the eardrum. However, overhead models can also cause harm — this is due to the lack of ventilation of the ear.

"Regular listening to loud music increases the risk of developing hearing loss. <...> Changes can affect only one ear and are not always immediately noticeable without special diagnosis," the sign language specialist explained.

Despite the fact that modern medicine offers many methods of treating hearing diseases, hearing in most cases is very difficult to regain, you can only improve the quality of hearing..

The doctor recommended using the "60 by 60" technique, according to which you can receive an audio signal at 60% of the maximum volume and up to 60 minutes.

"With an increase in listening time, it is necessary to take breaks of 10-15 minutes. <...> Headphones should be individual and cleaned regularly with antimicrobial wipes," the expert explained.

Earlier, on July 12, 2024, Kalsyn Gamzatov, an otolaryngologist at the Sberbank Health Medical company, spoke about the consequences of otitis externa. He noted that the main symptom of otitis externa is pain in the ear, which increases when pressing on the tragus or pulling the auricle.
