Ukrainian gymnast Kovtun approved the change of citizenship and the national team

The International Gymnastics Federation has approved the application of the Ukrainian Olympic silver medalist in uneven bars Ilya Kovtun for a change of citizenship and the national team. This was announced on July 11 on the official website of the federation.

It is noted that the athlete's transfer was approved at a meeting of the federation committee, which took place on July 9-10 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

From now on, the athlete will play for the Croatian national team.

"21-year-old Kovtun is a medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games... The athlete also became a medalist at the world Championships and won gold four times at the European Championships," Sport-Express said

Earlier, on June 21, Russian gymnast Nikita Nagorny suspended his sports career. Since October 2024, he has been the Vice-president of the Russian Gymnastics Federation.
