The Ministry of Education and Science announced the timing of the mass launch of a new higher education system

In Russia, the new higher education system will be massively launched in 2027/28. This was announced on July 11 by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The ministry clarified that the country's leading universities will begin the transition in the 2026/27 academic year, and the mass launch across the country will begin in 2027/28.

"What is fundamentally new? Enhanced fundamental training, especially in engineering and technical areas; more practice — close communication with employers, development of mentoring," the ministry's Telegram channel reported.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Moscow Pedagogical State University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Moscow Aviation Institute and others are participating in the pilot project.

Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science, said on July 9 that Russia would be able to switch to a new higher education system by 2027.
