Lavrov arrives in North Korea on an official visit
On Friday, July 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in the coastal city of Wonsan in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), where he will take part in a round of strategic dialogue.
"Lavrov arrived in North Korea on a visit, the minister's flight landed in the city of Wonsan," TASS reports.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said on June 23 that new bilateral contacts were planned between Russia and the DPRK, including in connection with upcoming events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial rule.
On July 18, North Korean President Kim Jong-un, during a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, declared his continued support for the Russian Federation's policy of protecting sovereignty. He also confirmed Pyongyang's will to faithfully implement the strategic partnership agreement with Moscow.
