More than 1.5 million people joined the volunteer movement in Moscow
In Moscow, over 1.5 million people have already joined the volunteer movement, and the majority of it is made up of young people. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of the capital Natalia Sergunina, noting that volunteers, in particular, participate in the organization of major international forums and commemorative events, provide support to the wards of charitable foundations and help animals from shelters.
"Muscovites can choose from more than 10 areas of volunteerism. This year, the most inclusive in terms of the number of events and participants was patriotic, event and social volunteering," Sergunina said.
This year, the International Volunteer Corps for the 80th Anniversary of Victory was formed in Moscow. Its participants are engaged in organizing events dedicated to the anniversary date. For example, during one of these events, volunteers talked about the streets and squares in the city named after the defenders of the Fatherland.
The St. George Ribbon campaign was also held in the capital, where Muscovites distributed this attribute of Victory Day celebrations. As volunteer Daria Mityanina recalls, "it was nice to see a man take a ribbon and tie it for himself." "This is a tribute, understandable without words," she added.
The activities of the capital's volunteers are coordinated by the Mosvolonter resource center. It regularly hosts training programs and courses. There, novice volunteers learn the basics of volunteerism and gain teamwork skills, while their more experienced colleagues can improve their skills.
