Criminal case opened in Adygea after mass poisoning of people

A criminal case has been opened into violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules that led to mass poisoning of people in the Republic of Adygea. This was announced on Friday, July 11, by the press service of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The investigation found that in the period from 07/06/2025 to 07/10/2025, mass poisoning of people occurred in the city of Maikop after eating the products of one of the fast food restaurants," the department's Telegram channel clarified.

According to preliminary data, the inspection of public catering facilities revealed violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which led to infection with salmonellosis in 45 people, 11 of whom are minors.

According to the republican Ministry of Health, all the poisoned people ate seafood in one of the establishments in Maikop.

On July 8, 110 people with symptoms of intestinal infection applied to the Central District Hospital of the Magaramkentsky district of Dagestan. At the same time, it was reported that most of the victims of the infection were children. It was established that they drank water that is supplied to the houses through water supply lines.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident. On July 9, the director of the municipal institution of the Magaramkent district was detained. A sanitary and epidemiological examination was ordered as part of the criminal case. As of July 11, the number of victims increased to 372 people.
