On July 10, Telesputnik and the Petersburg Diary held a round table on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Education. The event was held in the St. Petersburg "House of the Journalist" and brought together representatives of higher educational institutions, business and public organizations.

Digital technologies are rapidly changing the whole world and the field of education is not left out. In Russia, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics are playing an increasingly important role in personalizing education, creating personal learning environments, and so on.

The discussion, organized by Telesputnik and Petersburg Diary, was attended by Anton Kobak, CEO of Kobak Lab, Victoria Korzhuk, Associate Professor at the ITMO Information Technology Security Faculty, Egor Krasilnikov, CEO of AllSee, Irina Alexandrova, specialist in organizing the work of the Movement of the First in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg, and Irina Alexandrova, specialist in organizing the work of the Movement of the First Vladislav Verkhorubov, Vice President of the Leningrad Region Drone Racing Federation Ilya Popov, is in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg. The moderators were Ekaterina Bogdanova, Editor-in-chief of Telesputnik, and Andrey Kondratiev, editor-in-chief.

All experts agreed that artificial intelligence and robotics are not just the "future" of education, they are already the "present". According to ITMO representative Victoria Korzhuk, today we are increasingly moving into the digital world, so "artificial intelligence, AI agents, robotics and other technologies are something that we will not be able to get away from in the near future."

"This includes convenience, automation, and acceleration of individual processes. But how soon and in what ways we will come to this — it just falls on our shoulders," explained Victoria Korzhuk, addressing the participants of the round table.

According to Ilya Popov, Vice President of the LUO Drone Racing Federation, robotics and artificial intelligence are already playing a significant role today. This is confirmed by the development of unmanned logistics, the emergence of unmanned vehicles and delivery robots. However, existing and future generations will need to be able to work properly with such "smart ecosystems".

"Education plays a significant role here. We must train personnel who will be able to work properly with such systems from school and college. And we already have such personnel," Ilya Popov explained.

Egor Krasilnikov, the head of AllSee, also suggested paying attention to the audience for which the education system works. In his opinion, education is not about memorizing specific facts, but about developing thinking.

"We need to look at the audience for whom we are creating education. These are the zoomers and the younger generation. For them, the interfaces of interaction with the real world are ChatGPT, TikTok and other platforms where they spend most of their time. This must be taken into account. And then, probably, the training will be more effective," the expert shared his opinion.

"AI and robotics in education are already real. It is important to teach children how to use these technologies correctly in order to prevent some kind of “degradation”. We need to make sure that schoolchildren and students understand that they need to analyze what the neural network offers," Irina Alexandrova, a specialist in organizing the work of the Movement of the First in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg, shared her opinion.
