The case was opened on the death of a worker at a construction site in Krasnoyarsk.

In Krasnoyarsk, a load fell off a construction crane and crushed a worker to death. A criminal case has been opened, according to the regional Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office.

The tragedy occurred on Friday morning, July 11, on Semafornaya Street. A 56-year-old native of Azerbaijan was killed at the construction site of a 25-storey building.

"At the time of the accident, the formwork panel of the concrete structures was being disassembled at the site. Lifting one of the shields, the crane operator gave an audible warning signal about the transfer of cargo, but the worker who was under it did not respond," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

A metal construction element fell from a height of 12-13 floors and fell on the head of a 56-year-old man. Despite having a helmet, he died on the spot. According to preliminary information provided by the Investigative Committee, the man performed the functions of a handyman and was officially employed.

A criminal case has been opened into the death of a person under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of safety rules during construction work, resulting in the death of a person by negligence." Investigators have already examined the scene and seized documentation that may help in the investigation.

The prosecutor's office is also investigating the circumstances of the incident. The agency will check how the employer complies with the legislation on labor protection and industrial safety. Specialists from the regional State Labor Inspectorate and Rostechnadzor are involved in the inspection.
