- Rakova spoke about the growing interest in Olympiad training among the capital's schoolchildren
The number of Moscow schoolchildren who are preparing to participate in the Olympiads has increased by 70%: last academic year, more than 27 thousand children attended open educational Olympiad shifts. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Social Development, told about this.
"The capital's schoolchildren continue to show outstanding results at the Olympiads. For example, this year at the All—Russian School Olympiad, the Moscow national team has a record number of awards — 1,863 diplomas of winners and prize-winners," said the vice mayor.
According to Rakova, Moscow is trying to support schoolchildren in "their quest to win intellectual competitions." There are opportunities for training on the basis of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence. Schoolchildren like such initiatives, the deputy mayor noted, adding that "this summer, more than 10 thousand more determined schoolchildren will join the educational programs."
During the summer programs, children can "combine study and recreation, as well as make plans for the new Olympic season," Rakova said. "The Olympiad preparation classes are held in three different formats: field and city shifts, as well as an online lecture hall," she said.
As part of the field shifts, students go to country bases and fully immerse themselves in Olympiad training in their subject. The guys complete assignments, meet with university and school teachers. The shift lasts from one to two weeks. In June, the national teams in mathematics, the Italian language, and the basics of security and homeland defense (OBZR) have already been held. Classes in history, chemistry, Chinese, and other subjects will be held in July and August.
The programs are also conducted in the form of city shifts: students attend classes at the CPM, as well as attend excursions, museums and leading universities in Moscow. In addition, summer programs are held online: students remotely participate in lectures and seminars, and can also receive consultations from curators.
