The auto expert named the signs of fake auto parts
A classic sign of counterfeiting in the automotive parts market is a significant deviation from the average market value. This was stated by Katerina Kosmynina, head of e-commerce at Peugeot Citroen Rus.
"Various explanations like the "sale of leftovers" or the "liquidation of the warehouse" often turn out to be just tricks of scammers. It is important to remember that sellers of original products will never trade at a loss," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Kosmynina as saying on July 11.
Other signs of forgery are the absence of protective elements on the package or their careless application. These are, for example, holograms, QR codes, and unique serial numbers. Original products are always distinguished by impeccable printing (clear font, smooth edges, absence of blurred images), and fakes usually give themselves away by sloppy execution (air bubbles under the label, distorted inscriptions, color inconsistencies).
The expert also noted that fraudsters often try to sell spare parts under the guise of "universal". Therefore, before buying, it is necessary to verify the OEM part number or check compatibility with the vehicle's VIN code. In addition, it is important to require certificates of conformity from the seller — bona fide outlets are always ready to provide the necessary documentation, the specialist said.
On July 9, car expert Yulia Trushkova said that some components in cars wear out faster than others, including due to constant loads and aggressive operating conditions. Spark plugs are considered to be one of the most unreliable parts, she noted.
Before that, on July 8, auto expert Alexander Homan warned that some drivers, in order to save money, switch to using regular water instead of a special washing liquid, which harms the car.
