German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has finally decided to engage in the militarization of Germany, because he believes that diplomatic methods to resolve the Ukrainian conflict have been exhausted. This was announced on July 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following the ASEAN meetings in Kuala Lumpur.

"If Mr. Merz believes that peaceful opportunities have been used up, exhausted, he has probably decided to devote himself completely to the militarization of Germany at the expense of his people," Lavrov said.

In addition, he stressed that Merz had repeatedly talked about his main goal — to turn Germany into the leading military power in Europe.

Lavrov also called Merz's statement that Russia allegedly poses a threat to European countries "complete nonsense."

Earlier, on July 10, at a conference in Rome, Merz called on US President Donald Trump to "stay with the Europeans" on the issue of Ukraine. The Chancellor also noted that the European Union's (EU) support for the Kiev regime is "unwavering."
