- Reuters has learned about the European Commission's plans to introduce a flexible ceiling on Russian oil prices.
The European Commission plans to propose the introduction of a flexible ceiling on prices for Russian oil by the European Union (EU) countries. This was reported by the Reuters news agency.
"The European Commission is expected to propose a floating price limit for Russian oil this week <...> in an attempt to overcome the resistance of some member states," the July 10 publication said.
The European Commission plans to implement this initiative as part of the draft new anti-Russian sanctions. Thus, the level of Russian oil prices may drop from $60 to $45 per barrel.
On July 9, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, in an interview with ERR television and radio company, said that the state could block the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union (EU) due to oil prices from Russia. According to him, reducing the cost of this resource should be the "strongest element" of the new restrictions.
